Once again I have managed to shop my closet and find a piece that I completed forgot all about. I got this lace blazer some time last year and this is probably only the second time I have worn it. It was originally part of a suit but I like it better with a pair of jeans or black skinnies. Even though this is not exactly springy lace is making a come back this spring. I am taking on the challenge to see if I can work this into my spring wardrobe. Jacket: Kay Unger here or similar here Jeans: JBrand here or similar here. I spent my weekend sick in bed so started to get a bit difficult to keep up with my challenge of taking a photo of a day. Here is how my week went.
Colored jeans may be a dying trend but I refuse to put mine away. I am starting to get into a bit of style rut and am ready for spring but with below freezing temperatures I need to be practical and stick to my turtle necks. Since I will not be wearing any flowery springy dresses anytime soon I will just stick to my colored jeans. I look so happy in these pictures. Can you tell I am sooo over winter. I am not looking forward to the summer but it would be nice to have some temps above freezing. -TaimaAs we shiver our way through below freezing temps it is hard to not lust after all the pretty spring pieces in the windows of our favorite stores and the weather that goes with those pretty spring pieces. I am personally looking forward to the days when I don't have to spend a half an hour putting on my winter gear. Since we can't exactly fast forward out of this weather here are some ideas on how to style spring pieces for now and later. This top from Forever 21 will look great in the spring but it can be styled for now and the summer as well. For now pair it with a black suit and some fun pumps. The layers will keep you cozy and this is a great way to add a punch of color under an otherwise boring black suit. If you want a more casual look swap the black pants for jeans. Once spring rolls around we will all be extremely eager to bring out our lighter and brighter pieces. Pairing this top with a pair of white jeans and bright pumps will be a great way to celebrate longer and brighter days. For summer throw this on over a swimsuit and a pair of denim shorts and head to your closest shore. -TaimaToday I am linking up with:
We are spending the better part of this week in the teens which means that I need to be a bit more creative when it comes to staying stylish and keeping warm at the same time. I had a weekend full of plans so opted for layers to stay warm. Flannel shirt + leather jacket + fur vest = warm Taima. It was a lot of fun putting this outfit together but I am most proud of the fact that not only have I had some of these pieces for upwards of 10 years but I got a great deal on most of these pieces. The leather jacket I bought at an outlet sale for less than $50 bucks back in 2001. The jeans are from Uniqlo in Tokyo back in 2006 and I paid about $15 bucks for them. Where is the time going? Here is what I was up to this past week.
Today I am linking up with: I am a little late on the peplum trend but I think it is because I am not sure how I feel about it. At first I was loving it and then I saw it everywhere and it just became overwhelming. Now I kinda like it. I do love my newish snake skin shoes. They are newish because I bought them some time ago but just now discovered that I actually had them. That is what happens when you have a shopping addiction. You buy stuff, put it in your closet and forget about it. That is something that I definitely want to work on this year. My goal is a neater and nicely curated closet. Let's see how that works out. As does every year with the holidays over stores are starting to bring out their Spring merchandise and I am seeing a lot of floral. Because I am always looking for a deal I decided to do a little online hunting and found some great pieces that can be bought now "on sale" and worn in the spring. Here is what I found. I have a confession to make. Half of this outfit is from Forever 21. Most of you who know me know that I absolutely HATE Forever 21. Well at least I used to. A few months back while browsing some online sale sites I stumbled across an ad for 50% all clearance. Well you know I had to take a look and it resulted in me making a few purchases. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised when I got my goods. I am not exactly going to run to my closest Forever 21 and buy the whole store but I am willing to keep an open mind moving forward. The craziest thing about this outfit is that the clothes cost me probably a tenth of what I paid for the boots. This is a classic example of mixing high and lows. The blazer and shirt are from Forever 21 and I probably spent about $15 bucks on both pieces. The jeans are JBrand which can retail for up to $200 a pop but I got them on sale at Barney's Outlet for under $30 (which was the deal of the century). Unfortunately I did not get a deal on the boots and we will not discuss how much they cost but all you have to know is that I saved up for several months to get them. (And they are worth every penny). Do you mix high and low? Do you tend to shop the same stores and brands?
