Ask Taima: The Convertible Dress

I am going to Europe for a couple of weeks this summer and I am stressing out about how I am going to pack 39 outfits in one luggage. I am pretty sure it is going to be nearly impossible but I have a few tricks up my sleeve. One of them being sneaking some stuff into DH suitcase. Shhh don't tell him.

One of my favorite things that I discovered a few years ago is the convertible dress. It is a dress that can  be worn in a number of different styles and I think it is a great idea and something I will definitely be including in my suitcase. They can be expensive (think upwards of $200 bucks) so here are some options that I found that are a bit more wallet friendly.

If money is no object this version comes in at over $300 bucks. One day I may invest in one of these but for now it is a bit out of my price range.  This is a great option for formal wear.

Gilt currently has this version on sale for about $100. Definitely well worth it if it is within this budget.

Last but not least Target comes to the rescue with a version that comes in at 34.99.  This is a great deal and definitely a great way to try out the trend before investing in it.

365 Challenge 21.0 The Cape Cod Edition

Happy Summer.  The unofficial start of summer was this past weekend and I had the opportunity to celebrate with some wonderful friends in Cape Cod. Although the weather did not exactly cooperate most days we made the best of it and had a great time. Here are some highlights from my week and weekend. What did you do for Memorial Day Weekend?
Picture
First day at the Cape with lots of rain. We made the best of with some Abita Strawberry and Sam Adams.
Picture
Saturday brought more rain but that did not stop us from going out and dancing the "day" away. I am pretty sure we were home and in bed by 10 on Saturday. Haha.
Picture
We took a drive up to Provincetown on Sunday for a late lunch and some shopping.
Picture
You know I love food. This was my first time eating soft shell crab. Can you believe it. It was awesome.
Picture
Lets get back to my obsession with food. Lobster Mac and Cheese may possibly be my favorite thing in the whole world. OMG. I really need to drive back up to Provincetown to get some more.
Picture
The sun finally decided to come out on Monday. Just in time for us to go home. We spent the morning at the beach before our five plus hour drive back to New York. I am just happy to know that this is the just the beginning of our summer adventures. More to come.
Special thanks to Emme, Kati and Lizzy for putting up with me and also taking some of these pics :)

Ask Taima: White Blazer

Last Summer while out with friend at the Cape I ruined my beloved White Blazer. It was towards the end of the summer so despite the fact that I was devastated I didn't miss it too much. Now that we are in the Spring and fast approaching the Summer I am in desperate need of a white blazer. Of course I need something budget friendly so here are some options I am looking at.

This was an extremely LAZY week for me. Outside of work I did a whole lot of nothing this week. There was a lot of sleeping, bad eating and no gym.  I did get a lot of rest this past weekend though so I am ready to hit the ground running this week. Also have Memorial Weekend to look forward to. That is always a plus.

Even though I have some new found energy and plan on posting a bit more this week it is going to be busy work wise so I will try my best. (Glad I enjoyed a lazy rainy weekend in bed).  Here is how this past week went.
Picture
This was such a lazy week for all of us. This is just a snap shot of what was happening in my house.

Picture
I know I said this was a lazy week but I meant outside of work hours. It was fairly busy at work including a visit to the nation' capital.
Picture
The most exciting part of my week was going to the Yankee game. As always. It was such a gorgeous night and I even got to meet up with some friends while at the game. Always a treat.
Picture
The gym was just a thought this week. Instead I opted for bacon egg and cheese burgers on a pretzel bun. I know. Very very good for you.
Picture
I know I am supposed to be on a shopping diet but could not help treating myself to a little bling.

Picture
It rained most of the weekend so me and Rubi cuddled up for the better part of the weekend. Gotta love a lazy weekend. Now I am ready to be productive this week.

A lot of people ask me how I manage to have a full time job, go to the gym, cook most of my meals and blog.  All this while making it to bed by 11 every night. Oh yeah and I kinda have a social life too. I am not too sure how to answer that but guess what. Life has finally caught up to me which is why I have been a bad blogger lately.  I think planning for my summer has pretty much pushed me over the edge. As of Memorial Day Weekend I pretty much have plans for every weekend through mid July. I am pretty sure I am going to spend most of August sleeping. Haha. There is lots to look forward to and although there may be days  when I won't be posting I promise I will have lots to share when I get around to it. In the meantime here is how my week went.
Picture
The reason why I love my gym so much is because they always have a new class for me to try. (And no they are NOT paying me to write this). Last week I tried a class called surfset. I cannot even begin to tell you how much fun this class was. (Look it up on youtube). Can't wait to try again this week.
Picture
I spent the better part of Saturday doing some spring cleaning. This is the mess that is kinda still taking over my bedroom. Living in NYC closet space is at a premium which means spring cleaning involves putting away the winter clothes in storage and taking out all the summer clothes. I have waaayy too much crap so it is a bit of a task. Might be done by the end of the summer.
Picture
We decided to do date night on Friday instead of our usual Saturday.  We tried a place called Cellar 58 down in the east village. It was edible. We ended the night with wine and desserts at Sambuca's Cafe. One of my fav places.

Picture
We spent Sunday playing tennis by the beach. Lots of fun. Only problem is that I have been sore for over two days now because the last time I played tennis was over 5 years ago. I suppose I will survive.

Remember at the beginning of the year when I said I was going to take a picture a day for 365 days. Well let's just say that went down the drain this week. I totally fell off the radar mid week last week. I did make up for it this weekend. It started off with a lot of wine and ended with the Five Boro Bike Tour.
Picture
I started re-reading The Great Gatsby early last week. Such a great book. I might re-read it about 4 times before I am done. There are lot of fund Gatsby inspired outings coming up so look out for some OOTD posts.
Picture
After dinner I met up with friends to celebrate my girl Mandi's birthday. As you can see from this impromptu photo shoot we had a lot of fun (and that was before we even managed to leave the house). It goes to show you that all you need is a few bottle of wines and great friends to have a good time.  Disclaimer: Mandi is taking the pictures. Not sure how that happened.
Picture
Friday night I went to one of my favorite spots in Hells Kitchen, Stecchino. You have to try their shrimp burger. It is amazing.

Picture
Saturday night we prepped for the Five Boro Bike Tour by loading up on Pasta. You know I love food so I of course went to town.
...And now for the highlight of my weekend. On Sunday morning we woke up at the crack of dawn and find out way to lower manhattan for the Five Boro Bike Tour. This tour is a 42 mile ride through New York City's five Boroughs. It is a traffic free ride which is always a treat and it is a great way to see the city. This was my second time doing the tour and I have to say it was just as amazing as the first one. I am soo excited that I had the opportunity to do it and cannot wait to do it again. This time I did not stop in every borough to take pics but I did manage to get a few shots. Here are some highlights from my day.
Picture
You know I had to come up with an "outfit" for the tour. I went for graffiti pants and Chuck Taylors. Haha.  Some guy asked me what my pants meant. Ummmm.. I didn't realize I had to have a story prepared. I just told him they are crazy graffiti pants. I mean do they really need an explanation. HAHA
Picture
I had to take a moment in Brooklyn to admire the New York City skyline. It was a gorgeous day. I am not sure how I managed to get back ont he bike and finish the ride. I totally wanted to just sit here and enjoy the view.
Picture
We were the first round of riders to start at the finish line. It was great because we were able to finish the ride in about 4.5 hours (better than last year) and did not have any back ups to deal with. Our longest wait time was at the starting line waiting to go.
Picture
And my favorite moment of the day of course involves food. Waffles at the finish line. Yum.
