Hot Pink and Grey

11/27/2012

I spent the last week down in Florida for the holidays and even though it was a bit chilly for Florida standards I did get a chance to wear my LookGlobal shoes. I can't get over the deal i got on them. They are my absolute fav. Too bad it is too cold back home to wear them. I am sure I will find a way to sneak them into my wardrobe. The weather cannot stop me. Have you ever had a piece you loved so much that you wore year round despite the weather?

Ask Taima: What to wear for Thanksgiving Dinner

11/20/2012

Dressing for Thanksgiving Dinner can be a bit tricky around my parts. I love to dress up. That I cannot deny. I am always accused of being "overdressed". I have come to accept the fact that I will ALWAYS be slightly "overdressed" no matter what the occasion. Thanksgiving is always tricky for me. Part of it is because it starts with massive amounts of food and ends with crazy midnight shopping. That being said trying to come up with something cute, casual, comfy BUT festive is a bit of a challenge. This year I am going more casual with skinny jeans, heels (changing into flats for shopping) and a sparkly top. I think that covers all and is still casual enough that I won't get the looks for showing up to dinner in a party dress. Haha.

Denim and Leopard

Remember that leopard maxi that I was trying to figure out how to dress down? Well I found the perfect solution. It is called a jean jacket and the good news is that albeit the stormy weather the temperatures have still been mild enough to wear a jean jacket (at least in Central Florida). By the way have I mentioned that I have had this jean jacket since the 90s. To all of you that called me a hoarder "See. I told you I would wear it again". Are you a fashion hoarder? What kind of gems have you found hidden in your closet?

Ask Taima-Black Snow Boots

11/15/2012

I leave to Florida tomorrow and I probably should be packing but instead I am doing what I do best. Shopping the web. The weather has been insane in New York the past few weeks. I mean first we had a hurricane then we had a Nor'easter and we are barely halfway through November. It is looking like it is going to be a brutal winter weather wise. Of course we have to be prepared so I went shopping online for stylish black snow boots. Here is what I found.

Green Colored Jeans-Poor in a Private Plane Edition

11/13/2012

When it comes to bags and shoes I tend to be a bit of a snob. Nothing makes me happier than slipping into a pair of Louboutin's or whatever designer I am obsessed with at the moment. But realistically I am not a trust fund baby, I have a mortgage and I do not use credit cards. I call myself poor in a private plane for a reason. So how do I afford $600 shoes? The answer is simple. I shop a lot but I only buy on sale. When it comes to clothes and trends I shop the bargains so I have money left over for high end classic pieces. Case in point, a few months ago while at Target with DH picking up some ingredients for home made pizza I snuck away to "look at something". That something was the clearance rack where I found something unbelievable. A pair of green skinny jeans which were on clearance for less than 10 bucks. I have been wanting a pair of green skinny jeans but really wasn't interested in spending the money on them since they are so "trendy" and I am saving up for a "classic" Chanel bag. Well the price tag was a whopping $6.88 so of course I had to try those babies on and they fit like a glove. They will go great with my $600 shoes and one day with my Chanel bag. Haha. In true "Poor in a Private Plane" fashion.  Here is how I styled them. What do you like to save on and splurge on?

My Life as told by Instagram 11.12

Last week was a pretty eventful week complete with a Nor'easter which brought us almost a foot of snow. Luckily the weather has been mild since then so all the snow is gone. (No icky black dirty snow to deal with). We also celebrated our wedding anniversary this past week. I can't believe it has been 4 years. Everyone asks us how we feel. Sometimes I wonder where the time went but other times I feel like we have been together for an eternity. I guess it depends what side of the bed I wake up on. In any event we are lucky to have each other. (Yes I said something nice about DH). Well now that I have made my obligatory nice comment about DH it is time to talk about what I am looking forward to this week. I AM GOING BACK TO FLORIDA!!! Yay. I am soo excited. Gotta start packing. Bye.

Epcot Food and Wine Festival 2012

While in Orlando I had an opportunity to go to the Food and Wine Festival at Epcot. I have to say I was in heaven. Two of my favorite things in the entire world all in the same place. Oh yeah!!! It was a lot of fun to try different food and wines from all over the world. We started in France and ended up in Argentina. DH even had a chance to try French beer.

Ask Taima-Colored Leather Gloves under $25

11/7/2012

At the suggestion of a friend I have decided to start a weekly blog post featuring questions asked by my friends and readers. If you have a fashion and/or shopping question that you would like to ask me kindly submit a question on the Ask Taima page. I will review all questions and feature at least one question on a weekly basis. I look forward to seeing what kinds of questions and style dilemmas you have in store for me.

I will start this off with a question of my own. I am looking to spice up my fall/winter wardrobe with a little bit of color and have decided that leather/suede gloves are the way to go. Now if you are like me I cannot spend tons of money on a pair of gloves since I have a tendency to lose them. They would have to be under $25 bucks in order for me to justify their potential short lifespan. Here are some options I found while shopping the web.

Leopard Maxi

11/6/2012

I have been a bit obsessed with animal print lately and when I saw this leopard maxi I absolutely had to have it. At first I was a bit unsure as to how I would style it or when I would wear it. DH always accuses me of being overdressed (which I hardly think is a crime) so I was trying to think of ways to dress it down. I decided to just go with it. Who cares if he thinks that I am overdressed. I personally think it is just perfect for a supermarket run or sipping on champagne by the pool.

My Life as told by Instagram 11.5

All was great this week until a little storm named Hurricane Sandy decided to pay a visit. Fortunately for me I only lost power for a few days but unfortunately many in the tri-state area were not so lucky. DH blames me for the power loss when I exclaimed "I bet we will lose power as soon as the xbox decides to finishing updating". Long and behold that is exactly what happened. He will blame me for the power loss for the rest of my life. Despite the fact that it was a rough week I am thankful for the time I got to spend with my family. There was a lot of wine, a lot of talking and a lot of just spending time with each other which rarely happens  in everyday life. While there were lives lost and homes destroyed I have to say that Hurricane Sandy brought me the greatest gift of all. For the first time in a long time I got to spend quality time with DH and Rubi the Cat.
